With newer cars becoming more and more technologically advanced it is becoming nearly impossible to steal them. Many modern vehicles have implemented the push to start feature along with other safety features to prevent auto theft. However, it was not always so easy to keep thieves away. In fact, it was possible for thieves to jump start cars and drive away in a matter of minutes. Auto theft was very common back in the day and now it seems that more and more stolen vehicles are being found and reported to the National Insurance Crime bureau decades after the incident.
In this video we join the NICB as they discuss a 1981 Ferrari GTSI recovered at the Port of L.A./Long Beach. The car was stolen in 1987 from Newport Beach, Calif., while on consignment at a dealership. The vehicle identification number was switched to the VIN of a 1982 Ferrari, but 29 years later NICB was able to determine the true identity of the car.
They immediately contacted the dealer who had been in possession of the car when it was stolen. However, he was indifferent about being reunited with the car. Therefore, it is set to be sold at auction where it can be purchased and appreciated! To check out the story of this 1981 Ferrari click below!
