When it comes to the production of mass market high performance electric cars, Tesla is the company that first comes to mind. There are small players in the industry who do produce EVs but they are not quite as fast. However, there are some engineers who can build much faster electric cars. A perfect example is True Cousins from Denmark, the makers of the revolutionary TC-X electric car.

Just how quick is True Cousins’ TC-X? Well, a Tesla Model S needs about two extra seconds to cover a standing 1/8 mile! Just recently, True Cousins managed to get their TC-X race away the 1/8 mile at the Malmo Raceway in a mind-boggling 4.89 seconds at 145 mph, setting a new world record.

The TC-X set its first 1/8 mile record two years ago, with a time of 5.74 seconds. This shows how much work True Cousins put into their car to make it lightning quick. As a matter of fact, the TC-X is capable of accelerating to 62 mph in one-and-a-half seconds. This is not a bad improvement for the guys who began experimenting with EVs eight years ago. Check out the video below and witness the insane acceleration and the record smashing drive.
